...and I'm not talking nostalgic Girl Guide campfire ditties and rounds, here, there really are two kookaburras (a mother and her fledgling yougster, still with soft, downy feathers) who appear to have taken up residence in the eucalypts outside. They cause quite a ruckus in the wee hours. Not indigenous to WA, they were introduced. They're not quite in such plague proportions as the Rainbow Lorrikeets who hang out in the date palms up at nearby Monument Hill and do their raucus sunset chorus at Cottesloe Beach, but there seem to be plenty of Kookaburras around...
