Further Christmas Day Exploits...

Bryn crashed out on Noah's bed after all the cuddles and stimulation...

The others went off to play cricket in the park over the road....

But Poor Poor Charlie Brown had to stay at home- he was desperate to join in the fun! seeen here peering dejectedly through the fence, gazing covetously upon cricket balls and small children....

Pixie Munchkin's 1st Xmas Beach swim...

Christmas Day was a hottish 36 degrees, so we headed for South Dog Beach arounf 9am with Bryn and Charlie (Aleisha was invited but chose to stay at home playing with Xmas prezzies)...

Testing the water, wrapped carefully against the sun, fascinated by the reflection, I took Bryn in wrapped ina sarong...the sea was quite calm as the Fremantle Doctor (sea breeze) was yet to arrive...

Nestled into Mummy, lulled by the gentle lapping in the shallows by the shore, Bryn nearly fell asleep in the shade of my body...

Wrapped in a snuggly towel on the beach with Daddy, after the big swimming adventure...

Green Ladybird Skirt #5...

The full skirt, made of limey/ apple green cotton which I bought some time a go (it was the fun 'appliqued' 3-dimensional bit that attracted me)...

The ladybirds which i bought at a haberdashery stall in Stock Rd Markets which have since burnt down...attached by adding sticky backed felt and then pinning them on with safety pins so the ladybirds can be removed for washing!...

Detail: the side

Detail: the bottom coloured braid (also bought in the same expedition to Stock Rd Markets ) Posted by Picasa

Burgundy and Beads: Skirt #4

Amazing what you can do with a 50c piece of linen sarong with the Madrasi tailors address still upon it on a very Indian label, bought at the Church Fair jumble sale!...plus a couple of big buttons...

Fishy Fashion...Skirt # 3

The front view of my latest creation. The fishy fabric (rayon) I found in Spotlight a couple of years ago and kept for a 'rainy day' (or should that be 'sunny day' as it's such a summer design and weight?!). It's basically a rip-off of the first spotty red and khaki one, from which I cut a simple pattern for future reference...

The aqua blue batik-look material was intended for a dress I ordered from someone on LETS years ago, but she didn't have time to finish it. Part of it was used to cover a cushion which is now Charlie's bed outside in the storage room where he sleeps!...

Detail of the joiny bits where the fish meet the aqua and the lace which I also have had in my sewing box for aaaages- I picked it off a dress I found in an op shop, originally to use on a pair of bathers...

I looove the jellyfish in the design of the fabric! Seen here joinging the aqua blue batik front panel. Posted by Picasa

Soaking in it...

I've finally reclaimed my bath, now that the fence has been replaced and the fern jungle cleared a bit to gain access.Bliss! Bryn came in for a soak towards the end and fell asleep on me... Posted by Picasa

Water Baby...

I missed the morning creche, so we went to the pool with BJ, the 20 year old daughter of a colleague who is visiting from Melbourne. She snapped some pics of Bryn and me in the hydrotherapy pool and looked after him while I did some laps in the 25m. We came home and sang songs with piano until Doug and Aleisha arrived home around 6ish.

It looks like we are in full sunlight, but the roof of the enclosed pool filters harmful uv rays. The sides of the pool are heavy-duty clear plastic which can be zipped up or down, depending on the weather.

Bryn can: float on his tummy and back, allows me to duck him under water (at 18 weeks, he still has his fishy instincts) and generally seems to love being towed around in the water...

BJ had to pull a few funny faces to distract him and get him to smile for the camera (too busy being fascinated by the reflection on the water, the ripples and the bubbles)... Posted by Picasa

Skirting Around the Issue...

No clothes that fit me (and my 'jellyfish' still-pregnant belly) in my wardrobe, plus oddments of fabric sitting in the sewing box and assorted trims = operation creative skirt-making!

Pictured is exhibit #1, made from my now too small Bad Hair Day costume skirt, formerly black spots on white which I inadvertantly turned khaki on white by putting it in with whites and colour run remover! Plus some remnants I had in red and orange-red, trimmed with the bit of red edging I used when I re-upholstered the double piano stool!... Posted by Picasa

Red-flowering Eucalypt & Rainbow Lorikeet...

You can just make out the rainbow lorikeet munching the red flowers of the gorgeous gum tree on the verge of next doors house, visible from our kitchen window- a real sign that Summer is here!...

...and the view from the other side, complete with a few wispy clouds in an otherwise blue sky (34 degrees today)... Posted by Picasa

Rockin' The Baby Live on Bather's Beach...

A very blurry still of us moving across the stage in "Rockin' The Baby", where we emerged from our whiter than white cane and tissue paper clam shells, clutching pearly babies, wearing sweeping calico skirts and 'seaweedy' tops in aqua and green. The lighting is deliberately oceanic blue. The sound was incredibly good and both my 'Three Four Lullaby' and Bryn's recorded baby cries were clearly audible, despite the seabreeze...
